The beauty of Spring in Arkansas |
Our Rose garden lovin the weather! |
We have been at the ranch for over five weeks now. Justin left during our second week and since then we've just been working and enjoying our time here. It's all the little things about being in a house like endless hot water, a fridge that works, space from each other, dishwasher, and a fireplace that make it so wonderful. To say the least it has been a much needed time for my soul because although the motor home life is a lot of fun, it is a lot of work! So I always enjoy a little sabbatical away from time to time...But now that I feel refreshed and energized I am definitely ready to get back on the road soon!

This little fourth grader thought she was sooooo funny! |
There were a few nice kids! |
I have been laughing lately because I feel as if I live some what of a double life here in Arkansas. During the week I'm Mrs. Cote the substitute teacher.... and then once the weekend hits I'm taking bets and handing out cash at the the horse races. From quiet little teacher to the gambling enabler all in the same week. It is funny to me, but it's actually pretty normal around here. Jordan has landed a job at Turf Catering Company. He sets up huge conventions, serves food and then breaks it all down. It's not quite the job we were looking for but it is a job and for that- we are extremely grateful! Other than that boring work stuff Jordan has been doing lots of fishing, Surgical Fibers work, and some chores around the ranch. Wendy and I save all the jobs that require muscle for him! I have been working a lot with Wendy and her Crooked House Herbals Company. So as she teaches me her herbal formulas I have been putting my very left-brained self to work getting things organized for the company. I have re-designed the website, put together the online shopping cart and online store, worked on her blog and organized her herbal kitchen for maximum efficiency. Haha, I may not be musical or artistic but organize ... now that is something I CAN do!!! Plus In-N-Out Burger taught me so much about running an efficient, simple and successful business that it has been fun for me to apply a lot of these old skills to Crooked House! I am in nerd heaven- between making up worksheets and spread sheets for inventory, designing labels, organizing cupboards, and reading as many herbal books as I can. Jordan just laughs at me and then goes fishing. ha!
We re-stocked the pond this year with 300 fish! |

Sometimes I sneak down there and fish a little too.. |

Other than that, we are just trying to enjoy these last six weeks in Arkansas. At the end of April we will be getting Destiny out of storage and making our way home to California for a week or two before we head to Montana for the summer. As we head north this year we are hoping to stop in Canyonlands, Moab and Arches. They have been on our lists for quite some time now. We are just hoping to get all of our finances in a row and all the plans hammered out. We are getting excited to get back on the road. We miss our girl (Destiny)! She has many miles yet to go..... and we are just sitting here day dreaming of all the places we will be.
