Texas Days One and Two

(Some snap shots from Cactus Rose RV park that we stayed at in Texas! It was pretty nice, the only downfall is that it was right off the freeway so there was some traffic noise, not too bad inside of Destiny though. The "clubhouse" had some funky decorations. Jordan took a few snap shots of them below, but we didnt' really grab any other photos.)

After we stayed the night in Abilene, TX we drove further east into Texas trying to make our way to the RV park where we were staying at that night. We wanted to get there by 1:30pm so we could make sure to catch the playoff football games. I know that neither of us miss having cable, the shows are mostly trash these days anyhow- but the one thing we sure do miss is our sports. I mean I love sports, but I never knew love of sports until I met Jordan. He loves every game played whether it is soccer, basketball, football, baseball or hockey- you name it and he will probably know more weird stats, player’s names, and scores than anyone you know. The funniest part is my husband can barely remember what he did yesterday but he will know who won the world series in ’56! Love him so much and when it’s possible we try to catch a game or two while we are traveling. The only thing he loves more than sports is nature- that’s what makes him so wonderful! He would rather be outside hiking or admiring our Creator than sit inside to catch every game.

Anyway, we got all plugged in and took the most amazing showers. Well the boys took these wonderful, hot, steamy showers for what felt like hours and then I took a lukewarm to cold shower with the little hot water that was left after those two! Ha, I can’t complain though because it still felt so amazing to be clean! We enjoyed the football games and eachother's company. It has been so great to have a third person on our little journey. Even though our space is small it hasn’t felt that way at all. We are getting in the groove of maneuvering around each other in our tiny 19” hallway, we are learning each other’s schedules and adapting our own for the good of the team. Sharing life with people is wonderful and I wouldn’t trade this time with Justin for anything!

On Monday morning, Justin and I got up early (we just left Jordan in bed since he doesn’t do mornings) and we drove the last 85 miles into Dallas to the airport. Justin had a four day business trip in the midst of our journey so we picked an airport on the way and figured we would just hang out in the town until we could pick him up and continue on our journey. The sunrise was breathtaking as we drove straight into it. There is something amazing about the beautiful shades and how they light up the open fields, the water towers and old barns. It’s a soft light, glowing gold, with the warmth of pinks and purples as if it’s tenderly waking everything up for another day. You can almost feel the rays of sun shoot across the entire horizon straight into your heart, soul, and mind. Rejuvinated and in awe we continued our drive through this beautiful state.

Well it was lovely unitl we actually hit the city of Dallas. Dallas should not be included in my love of Texas. It is by far one of the worst places that we have taken Destiny through. Not that it is ugly, but there is construction EVERYWHERE and more bumps in the road than you have ever felt. People are zooming past, cutting you off without even knowing it and the lanes are horribly marked. And on top of that I don’t think anyone has ever shared the road with a motor home before, let’s just say it wasn’t super friendly! So I may be exaggerating a little bit but we will definitely not drive through there again if we don’t have to. Other parts of the state are so much more enjoyable!

The airport got a little tricky but we pulled it off in the nick of time and we said farewell to Justin for a few days. Time to go explore!!!
