La Cresta

Man's heart away from nature becomes hard.  ~Standing Bear

It's been an interesting Spring, to say the least. One week I am in shorts playing in the garden and the next I am wearing three jackets, a beanie and a scarf. My body doesn't quite know what to do with itself. This seems to be the trend every two weeks. Rain, shine, rain, shine. We just had a big storm pass through and kid of felt a little stir crazy. It's torture to know that it's Spring but not be able to go outside and play! So as soon as the weekend storm passed Jordan and I headed over to Amber and Bryan's house so we could go hiking. We started the morning off with some mimosas and pancakes! Amber is so good to us. She always makes us something amazing when we come over. We headed out to the Santa Rosa Plateau so they could FINALLY show us this place they have been ranting about. The park had closed signs all over the gates. We figured that with all this rain it must have been flooded out or something. But being us we loaded up Marley in the backpack went around the closed signs and started walking in anyways. Just as we were getting onto the trail we met a nice friendly Park Ranger! He informed us the park was closed and if we proceeded any further we would be fined $1500 a person. Thank goodness we had a baby with us, otherwise he really might have wrote us some tickets. Anyhow we turned around got into the car and just started driving thru La Cresta. After a good 30 minutes we found a dirt road and just decided to go walking there. It was a beautiful day and perfect for walking. We checked out some abandoned buildings, walked to a dead end of a road and then on our way back Marley asked if we could have a picnic.... so we just sat in the middle of the road, pulled out snacks and enjoyed the fresh air. It was the best day. And so wonderful to be outside in nature. It is refreshing to the soul and exactly what we needed. I love that we can share these things with Amb and Bry. We have pretty similar hearts and it is so good to spend time with them.
